Editorial Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Michigan STEAM Kids is an independent editorial resource. This policy explains how we create content, maintain quality, and handle potential conflicts of interest.
Editorial Independence
All content on Michigan STEAM Kids is produced independently. Program providers do not pay to be listed, and no provider has editorial input over their listing content. Our goal is to serve Michigan families with accurate, useful information — not to promote any specific program or provider.
If we introduce paid features in the future (such as featured placements or sponsored content), they will always be clearly labeled and separated from our editorial recommendations. Paid relationships will never influence how we describe or evaluate a program in our editorial content.
How We Create Content
Program Listings
Each program listing is individually researched and written by our editorial team. We do not republish marketing copy from provider websites. Instead, we create original editorial profiles based on publicly available information from provider-owned sources: official program pages, registration pages, pricing pages, and provider websites.
Listings follow a standardized template that includes a program summary, key details (age range, pricing, format, dates), an editorial overview, provider background, location context, frequently asked questions, and links to related programs.
City and Category Pages
City hub pages and category pages aggregate and contextualize our program listings for specific locations and topics. They include editorial introductions, curated program selections, and links to relevant guides.
Quality Standards
Parent Guides
Our parent guides are informational articles designed to help families navigate STEM and STEAM education decisions. They are written to emphasize clarity and draw on publicly available research, program information, and the editorial team's professional experience in science education and research.
We verify factual claims using provider-owned sources whenever possible.
We do not fabricate or embellish program details. If information is unavailable, we note it rather than guess.
We do not use hype language, superlatives without evidence, or promotional framing.
All content is reviewed for accuracy and template compliance before publication.
Published content includes a "Last Reviewed" indicator so readers know when information was last verified.
Updates and Corrections
We review and update listings on a regular cycle. When we identify outdated or inaccurate information, we correct it promptly. Anyone can report an error through our Contact page. For details on how we handle corrections, see our Corrections & Updates Policy.
How We Work
Every page on Michigan STEAM Kids goes through a consistent editorial process before it reaches you. We research programs using provider-owned sources, draft content following a standardized template, review every page for factual accuracy and editorial quality, and verify that the final version meets our standards before publishing.
As part of this process, we use AI-assisted tools to support early-stage research and drafting. These tools help us work efficiently across a large volume of programs and locations. However, no page is published without human review and editing. The final published version of every page reflects human judgment, editorial decisions, and quality checks — not raw AI output.
We believe in being straightforward about how our content is made. If you have questions about our process, feel free to reach out through our Contact page.
