Minecraft Modding Summer Camp at The Future Innovators Academy – Ann Arbor, MI

The Minecraft Modding Summer Camp (July 13–17, 2026) at The Future Innovators Academy is a hands-on STEM day camp where students learn to design and build their own Minecraft mods using visual coding and 3D modeling tools. Designed for elementary and middle school learners, this week-long program takes place in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and introduces campers to game logic, creative problem-solving, and digital design through a project-based approach.

Rather than focusing on gameplay alone, this camp teaches students how games work behind the scenes. Campers experiment with custom blocks, tools, creatures, and environments, testing their ideas directly inside Minecraft while developing foundational coding and design skills in a collaborative setting.

Program Overview

During the July 13–17, 2026 session, campers move beyond playing Minecraft to become creators of original game content. Using MCreator, a visual coding platform, students learn how to add logic and behaviors to custom mods, while Blockbench allows them to design 3D assets that appear directly in the game world.

Throughout the week, campers follow an iterative design process: brainstorming ideas, building assets, testing mods, debugging issues, and refining their creations. Projects may include custom tools, unique creatures, new blocks, or themed environments. Instructors guide students through each step, encouraging experimentation and problem-solving rather than step-by-step memorization.

By the end of the week, each camper completes a personalized mod project and gains a clearer understanding of how coding, design, and logic come together in modern game development.
