Program Overview

Impression 5’s Make It! workshops are designed for youth makers who enjoy building, experimenting, and learning new skills in a project-based environment. These sessions take place in the museum’s “Think Tank” space and focus on hands-on creation, using tools and materials to complete a take-home project.

The Woodworking workshop is a skill-building session where participants practice real construction steps such as measuring, assembling, and completing a build using woodworking tools. Students explore the basics of how parts come together, why precision matters, and how design choices impact the final result.

During this March 14, 2026 session, students work through a guided build where sawing, nailing, and drilling are part of the experience. The workshop is structured to support both learning and safety, with clear instructions and staff supervision throughout the session. By the end of the program, participants complete a wooden project they can bring home, reinforcing both confidence and practical maker skills.

This workshop is a strong fit for families looking for a STEM class experience that goes beyond screens and worksheets and instead focuses on real-world skills, creativity, and hands-on problem-solving.
